OH Goodness! I'm One of Them!

I had a blog on Substack and I am moving that material here (with updates and snotty comments) for your reading amusement. Hey! Here is something new and original! I quit my job. Now I created a blog to tell everyone what I think about it. No more steady paycheck for this girl. Insurance? That is for lemmings! I go my own way.
Reasons Against: I like expensive travel. I have meals delivered, a new home and car, and I was promoted away from any marketable skill.
Reasons For: I like expensive travel. I have meals delivered, a new home and car, and I was promoted away from any marketable skill.
How did I get here? Long story short, I fought my way into higher education. Soon after I got going, the bottom fell out. Kaplan University, one of the first online for-profit higher education organizations, went from 22 students to 100,000 in about seven years, give or take. Then down to 35,000.
Kaplan University became Purdue University Global. There were reorganizations and layoffs, and mass hirings for special projects. I quit, got fired, rehired as a temp, and was promoted to senior manager. Things can only happen when an organization hangs on after all these changes. I don't mean to sound trite, but if you know, you know. Considering my complete lack of direction, I did well. Great actually. But the point was that I was going up the wrong ladder. Working on important but not exciting projects, I had to admit that it was not me. I want something else.
So, that's how I got here. You may have noticed that the dateline was months ago. That's because I have been busy and am just now getting serious about blogging. Ok, maybe I procrastinated a bit too. So with much more ado than necessary, I am here with the world wide web, and my world is wide open.

My query is, "Can you still be a travel writer?" The magic worked. I was instantly presented with well-researched, lived, and detailed, helpful advice that told me the answer. Yes!
And no.
Some said YES, absolutely, I did it, and I will show you how to do it for the low price of $499. Some said NO, absolutely not! Check your privilege. And everything in between. So back to algorithms. Creating the post put me on some list somewhere, and now I get lots of advice and sales pitches. I love it! Travel is, after all, one of my favorite subjects. The little machine in the sky presented me with the best article! The good news, it inspired me to keep going! The bad news, it is lost, so I can't give proper credit.
It was about a lady who was incredibly well-traveled but not chronicled. She was in her 60s when she mustered up the courage. So thank you, random blogger, that came to my unwitting attention. I hope you somehow know that you made a difference. With the tools available to us all in one moment I became a full-fledged travel writer, blogger, and starter of an academy for the modern renaissance. Here we go!
