Marcus Aurelius
Famous Journaler and Former Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius had a lot to say about stupid people. I try to remember these quotes:
Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."
"Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one."
We've all encountered them: those slick offers that seem too good to be true (because they are) or the loud, opinionated voices online that drown out critical thinking.
Here are a few common internet scams to watch out for, so you (and Marcus Aurelius' ghost) can avoid them:
These emails or messages try to trick you into giving up personal information like passwords or credit card details by disguising themselves as legitimate sources like your bank or a social media platform.
If something promises instant wealth with little effort, it's a scam. Avoid "miracle" investments or work-from-home opportunities that sound too good to be true.
Scammers might create fake profiles of friends or celebrities to trick you into sending money or clicking on malicious links.
When all else fails, turn it all off for awhile. I guarantee happiness when you start being very particular of what goes into your eyeballs. Hopefully we call can avoid a headache (and maybe even some facepalming from Roman emperors).
