Oh, Algorithms, I Love You!
(full disclosure: this is a blog post I wrote a while ago on Substack, but I think it is funny, and I am not a college student, I can reuse my stuff! Take that, style guide people!)
My query is, “Can you still be a travel writer?” Can I be orange scarf blowing in the wind girl? The happy clipart-ish cliche? The magic worked. I was instantly presented with well-researched, lived, and detailed, helpful advice that told me the answer. Yes!
And no.
Some said YES, absolutely, I did it, and I will show you how to do it for the low price of $499. Some said NO, absolutely not! Check your privilege.
And everything in between.
So, back to algorithms. Creating the post put me on some list somewhere, and now I get lots of advice and sales pitches. I love it! Travel is, after all, one of my favorite subjects.
The Little Machine in the sky presented me with the best article! The good news, it inspired me to keep going! The bad news is that it is lost, so I can’t give proper credit.
It was about a lady who was incredibly well-traveled but not chronicled. She was in her 60s when she mustered up the courage. I’m ONLY 58.25 I have a 1.75 -year head start. If she can do it, so can I!
So thank you, random blogger, that came to my unwitting attention. I hope you somehow know that you made a difference.
