Let’s talk about Rajiv Surendra, the man redefining what it means to create on social media. You might remember him as Kevin Gnapoor from Mean Girls, but these days, he’s swapped mathletes for chalkboards, carving knives, and so so many more skills.

Here’s what makes Rajiv stand out in the crowded world of influencers and endless recycled content: his videos are long-form, thoughtful, and actually helpful. There are no flashy gimmicks or clickbait—just genuine tutorials and storytelling. Whether he’s teaching chalk designs, handmade goods, or how to organize an NYC teeny kitchen, he’s inviting you to slow down, learn something new, and appreciate the artistry of everyday life.

Recently, Rajiv held a sale featuring items he crafted, and, the response was phenomenal. I had a feeling it was gonna be epic. So I got on right as the shop opened for the very first time. I wanted to support my imaginary friend, who has taught me so much.

His creations sold out in four minutes. FOUR. MINUTES. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed to miss out. I was also thrilled to see someone like him thriving. There’s something deeply satisfying about seeing genuine artistry and hard work appreciated. Not just another money-grab in the shape of a mug with a logo.

Rajiv’s approach is a class on what social media and online sales should be! It reminds me of when I splurged on a high-end purse, thinking I was supporting an artisan somewhere, working alone, perhaps high up in the Alps. I wanted to feel like I was not only getting a treasure but also supporting an earth-friendly lifestyle. I was mad to learn that even some of the most expensive couture houses rely on young workers in poor conditions—not the romantic image I had in mind.

That’s why I love Rajiv so much. Instead of pumping out content to stay relevant, he offers something from the soul. Learning a skill or making something with care is its own reward.

Keep creating, Rajiv – I'm rooting for you (and hoping for another sale soon)!
